Commissioned Poster for Turning Earth Ceramics
I was approached by Turning Earth Ceramics (London) to design an event poster for  an upcoming spring maker’s market. The idea was to depict the market day in spring so I chose to illustrate some of the florals key to that time of the year and some of the ceramic pieces that were made in the Turning Earth studios.
For this poster I drew jasmine flower buds and the wild garlic and the vibrant and welcoming yellow daffodils that have brightened up all spaces and places. I then went ahead and chose a textured paper background as my illustrative style works best on this paper, giving it a hand drawn look and feel. I wanted to depict the feeling of people going towards this market and meeting up by the market rather than just the market items on a display.
A little scene of London is depicted here.
The Hoxton studio in this case as the brick railway arches are an iconic visual to this area.

The Summer Solstice poster was also created in an illustrative way but this time with a different textured background and focussing more on the tools and practical side of the studio as the event was about socialising in the open studio in Leyton. I drew some of the beautiful hanging plants and the typical roof structures that was iconic to this studio. I also drew a large sun shining through the iron bars almost like a sundial symbolising the midsummer day and the magic of solstice. Small triangular shapes frame the entire illustration in a vivid yellow to represent the sun rays. I also added a very subtle light yellow background to illuminate the drawing space outside of the typography and the info of the event. Little hand tools have been added to the drawings and also some people around the studio busy throwing and sculpting were some of the main features on this Solstice poster.
